USA Crits Series Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!!

The Primal Pro women headed off to VIVA LAS VEGAS for the final race of the season and the final stop on the USA crits series. We arrived Wednesday to watch Mel race cross Vegas and true to form she totally rocked it. She pulled off a third place finish which is impressive considering it was her first cross race of the season.
Thursday morning Tiff and I went on a little ride then we went  to pick up our numbers up at INTERBIKE.  Being a cyclist Interbike is a really big totally awesome candy shop! It was so cool I could have stayed all day but we decide we should be good and go chill out save our legs for the night’s race. Our numbers for this race were awesome they had our names on them. I’ll be honest I felt special! Check it.

We headed over to meet the team for our pre race meeting and to warm up for the race. We met Ricky Bobby our mechanic who also doubled as Elvis for this weekend and thanks to the whole PRO GOLD line of amazing products he was able to clean our bikes super fast and without water. They were sparking clean for the race! The course was a parking lot crit. Those are usually not my favorite the course was pretty simple a little tight with a weird C shaped turned right in the middle. It was a dusty course witch in turn makes it slick. Nicky came up with an awesome plan and we headed out to warm up. Mel all of the sudden realized she had forgotten to pick up her race number so it became a mad scramble to find where she could get it. Mel and I were riding our bikes through the lobby of Mandalay Bay how many people can say they have done that. Luckily we were able to get her number in time and head to the start line. Mel and Tiff both got call ups and looked awesome rocking the front line.
So the race begins and its dark and its fast… the corners are fast but really fun. People keep trying to attack but no one is willing to let anyone get away. Our plan was to sit in then attack half way through the race and keep counter attacking one another until someone gets away. A few laps in I’m riding the front and the girl in front of me gets a little sketched out on a corner and panics and pushes me into the bushes. I had to go to the pit and get a new front wheel so I get a new wheel and jump right back in. So Tiff goes and wins the mid race prim it was my turn and I was getting ready to attack I was in the top 10 girls in the field feeling good when I came around the last corner the finish line and next thing I know I’m on the ground huge pile up in the corner. I was hurting but my personal rule is never to quit a race always get back in and start pedaling then decide if you could pedal through or if you need to stop. I got another front wheel and jumped back in. Luckily my awesome Primal Kit held up with no holes. Tiff was rock star per usual and was able to pull off an 8th place finish. We finished well enough to secure our overall USA Crits overall 1st place team standing.

The next day we celebrated with our amazing sponsors. We are so grateful for the support from our sponsors this season wouldn’t have been possible without them. Here are a few pictures of our sponsors we found at interbike.

The BH family

The Primal Family

The PRO GOLD family
I’m so grateful for the amazing opportunity I had to be part of Primal Pro Women team this season. It has always been a goal of mine to race on a professional level. It was a dream come true and proof that if you believe in yourself anything is possible. I’m grateful for the awesome teammates I was able to share this season with I couldn’t have asked for a better team and I will always cherish the times we had together. Nicky aka the Prof our fearless leader gave everything she had to help us be successful both in life and on the bike. She is truly an amazing individual and I feel truly blessed to learn from her this year. I’m grateful for the sponsors we have and everything they have done for us to help us through this year. Our successes greatly deepened on them and the support they provide us with. Thank you to all the friends and families that have shared in our journey this year by supporting us or letting us stay at your house during races. It takes an army to run a cycling team and we want to say THANK YOU!

“Would you rather”
Love you all,

Kaytie Scott
